Building and "BOOSTing" Resilience in Parenthood
Join us for a FREE training session on Wednesday, May 1 from 6-7:15 PM at the Palo Alto University Mountain View Campus located at 1172 Castro St., Mountain View, CA, 94041, in room CR 124. This event is co-sponsored by Palo Alto University and El Camino Health, dedicated to nurturing resilience in parenthood. This event will kick start Mental Health Awareness Month.
In this session, you will:
- Learn practical strategies to build and internalize resilience in yourself and your children through the use of the BOOST model: Balance, Openness, Outlook, Strengths and Thrive.
- Explore the connection between emotional health and resilience.
- Understand the positive impact resilience has on your life.
- Assess resilience skills.
Karen Roller, PhD, MFT, will guide us through a high-level perspective on parenting of today and the benefits of resilience. She is an associate professor in the Counseling Department at Palo Alto University and a single mom. As a certified clinical traumatologist and compassion fatigue therapist, Karen provides Spanish-language supervision for couples and family therapy trainees supporting migrant families through a parent-involvement preschool system focused on prevention and early intervention.
Dr. Lori Riggio, PhD, will lead the session, sharing her expertise and insights. She is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and the Health Creation Coordinator at El Camino Health Mental Health and Addiction Services. She has over 25 years of experience providing direct clinical care, program development and oversight, and supervision and mentorship to numerous doctoral and master’s level therapists. Dr. Riggio also maintains a private practice in San Jose.
