Institutional Aid ("Scholarships")

Eligibility Criteria Evaluation
  • Program Evaluation: Each program will evaluate students based on their own rubric. Evaluated by program faculty, who will rank admitted students using their own rubric and provide student ratings and recommendations for scholarship awards. Program information will be incorporated into a university-wide rubric along with evaluations from the Office of Financial Aid and the Office of Admissions to produce a final student score (see below). (60%)

  • Financial Need: Documented through FAFSA (US citizens and eligible non-citizens) or PAU Institutional Financial Evaluation Form (international). Evaluated by the Office of Financial Aid comparing income data to state income level charts and evaluation of potential special circumstances. (40%)

Application Procedure

New Students

Automatic consideration for all newly admitted students. In order to have evaluation of their financial need included as part of their application, students must complete either the FAFSA (US citizens and eligible non-citizens) or the PAU Institutional Financial Evaluation Form (international students or those US citizens and eligible non-citizens who prefer not to complete the FAFSA). If students choose not to complete either form, they will receive a score of 0 on the Financial Need section of the rubric. If the student later submits the FAFSA or institutional form, they may have their Financial Need component reconsidered. If funds are available, this could result in the awarding of institutional aid (scholarship) or an increase in a previously offered institutional aid (scholarship) award.

Students are awarded with institutional aid (scholarship) based on rubric scoring.  See award letter for amount and details regarding continued eligibility.

New students will receive awards for one year only and will be encouraged to reapply for consideration in subsequent years throughout their course of study. See below for renewal criteria and deadlines.

PAU Institutional Financial Evaluation Form

Application Timeline for New Students

  • Priority Filing Deadline for all programs: January 15th of each year beginning in 2026. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until funds are exhausted. For the 2025 admissions cycle, we are using a rolling process until funds are exhausted.

  • Students are encouraged to file the FAFSA as soon as it is released, typically by October 1st for the next academic year’s enrollment (e.g., October 1, 2025 for the 2026-27 academic year). If students are unable to file the FAFSA or choose not to complete it, they should complete and submit the PAU Institutional Financial Evaluation Form ASAP.

  • As soon as a student is admitted to PAU, if their FAFSA or Institutional Financial Evaluation Form is on file, they will be considered for institutional aid (scholarship) and will also be awarded overall financial aid as soon as possible. Thus, it is in the best interest of the student to file the FAFSA with PAU’s school code or to complete and submit the PAU Institutional Financial Evaluation Form as soon as they are aware of their interest in a PAU program.

Institutional Financial Evaluation Form

Students who are requesting renewal must also complete the FAFSA or the PAU Institutional Financial Evaluation Form if they wish to have their financial need considered.

Students are awarded with institutional aid (scholarship) based on rubric scoring.  See award letter for amount and details regarding continued eligibility.

Students will receive awards for one year only and will be encouraged to reapply for consideration in subsequent years throughout their course of study. See below for renewal criteria.
