The policies listed below play an important role in maintaining a positive experience for everyone using Gmail. Be sure to check back from time to time, as these policies may change. Please also refer to Google’s Terms of Service for more information.
Spam, Malware and Phishing
Please keep Gmail free of spam. Some examples of spam or spammy behavior include:
- sending unsolicited or unwanted email; sending email in violation of the CAN-SPAM Act or other anti-spam laws;
- selling, exchanging or distributing the email addresses of any person without their consent;
- using Gmail to conduct fraudulent schemes or otherwise defraud users;
- sending unauthorized mail via open, third-party servers.
Don’t use Gmail to distribute malware such as viruses, worms, defects, Trojan horses, corrupted files, or any other such items of a destructive or deceptive nature.
Don’t use Gmail for phishing. In other words, don’t attempt to acquire other users’ data such as passwords, financial details, and government identification numbers under false pretences.
Child Safety Google has a zero-tolerance policy against child sexual abuse imagery. If we become aware of such content, we will report it to the appropriate authorities and may take disciplinary action, including termination, against the Google Accounts of those involved.
Copyright
Respect copyright laws. Don’t infringe on the intellectual property rights of others, (including patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright, and other proprietary rights), or encourage or induce infringement of intellectual property rights. You can report copyright infringement to Google by using this form
Harassment
Don’t use Gmail to harass others. Google may investigate and act upon harassment complaints. Online harassment is also illegal in many places and can have serious offline consequences. Illegal Activity Keep it legal. Don’t use Gmail to engage in unlawful activities.
Policy Enforcement
You can report abuse by using this form. Google may disable accounts that are found to be in violation of these policies. If your account is disabled, and you believe it was a mistake, please follow the instructions on this page.
