May is Mental Health Awareness Month

Each year in May, Mental Health Awareness Month provides a national opportunity to raise awareness around mental health issues, lower the stigma associated with mental health services, and advocate for policies to support those suffering from mental illness and their families.

As a leader in psychology and counseling, Palo Alto University is at the forefront of this national movement, bolstered by a dedicated community of faculty, staff, students, and alumni who have chosen this important field to make a difference in people’s lives every day.

PAU Hosts Community Workshop on How to Build Resilience in Parenthood

May 1 marks the beginning of Mental Health Awareness Month, and it was a milestone occasion as we gathered for 'Building and Boosting Resilience in Parenthood,' co-sponsored with our partner, El Camino Health, at our Mountain View campus. It was an unforgettable evening dedicated to learning resilience. Students, parents, and community members gathered to participate in this enlightening session led by Dr. Lori Riggio and Dr. Karen Roller.

The event kicked off with a warm welcome, followed by an insightful discussion on the challenges of parenthood and the importance of developing resilience. Dr. Riggio and Dr. Roller shared valuable strategies and practical tips for navigating the demands of parenthood while maintaining mental well-being. Attendees actively engaged in the session, asking questions and sharing their own experiences, fostering a sense of community and support.

The evening was a resounding success, providing a platform for open dialogue and a deeper understanding of mental health in the context of parenthood. We hope to make events focused on mental wellness and community growth an annual tradition, continuing to empower and support our families.

Join us in celebrating Mental Health Awareness Month and embracing resilience in parenthood. #ResilienceInParenthood #MentalHealth #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth #Parenthood #CommunityGrowth #PaloAltoUniversity #ElCaminoHealth
