The Dan Kostenbauder Board Room at PAU’s Mountain View Campus
Dan Kostenbauder is one of Palo Alto University’s greatest champions and supporters and has been an integral part of PAU's history over the past 39 years. Dan served as PAU’s Board Chair from 1987-1995 and again from 2017-2023. Dan stepped down as Board Chair in July 2023.
Among Dan’s many successes as Chair, he provided exceptional expertise while navigating myriad challenges and opportunities. These include milestones such as: stewarding a new President and the transition in leadership; the acquisition of CONCEPT Professional Studies, an important addition to PAU’s business portfolio; successful planning and execution of moving to a new campus location in Mountain View - always with a continued focus on the University's mission.
Dan’s leadership led to the expansion of academic programs, increased philanthropic support, and the cultivation of strong relationships with key stakeholders. During his tenure, he exemplified the highest standards of ethics, integrity, and professionalism, earning the respect and admiration of fellow board members, staff, and university stakeholders.
To honor Dan’s sizable contributions to the university as a longtime Board Chair, Board Member, and significant donor, the school raised over $25,000 to name the main conference room in PAU’s new Mountain View campus in his honor. The funds will be applied to the two endowed scholarships that Dan has established at PAU: The Robin Welles Kostenbauder Endowed Scholarship Fund and the Ying Li Kostenbauder Endowed Scholarship Fund. This allocation supports Dan’s priorities and augments his prior gifts to the University.
The newly-named board room was revealed to Dan on October 13, 2023, to much applause and great surprise on Dan’s part! PAU is incredibly grateful to Dan for his unwavering support and leadership over the years.
