Selecting a Personality Assessment Inventory (PAI) training for an entire clinical team is different from choosing a continuing education (CE) course for one psychologist. A clinical director must consider what staff members already know, how they use personality assessment in practice, and whether the training will create a more consistent approach across clinicians.
The Personality Assessment Inventory, commonly called the PAI, is a 344-item self-report measure that assesses personality and psychopathology. Its breadth makes it useful across mental and behavioral health settings, but it also makes training more consequential. Staff must understand more than how to produce a score report. They need to interpret the profile within the referral context and communicate conclusions that accurately reflect what the findings can support.
For a large organization, the goal is therefore not simply to give staff access to PAI information. It is to determine whether a training program can help clinicians use the measure more consistently and with sound professional judgment.
