James Otieno, Chair of the PAU Board of Trustees, has founded the Karibu Rafiki Foundation which will build schools in Kenya and Sudan. Karibu Rafiki means "welcome friend" in Swahili. James is a founding member and lead director of the board of PV Tech, a private energy firm. In July 2013 James attended a PV Tech signing cere- mony in South Sudan, a relatively impoverished newly created country in Africa in July 2013.

Recently, Ricardo F. Muñoz, Ph.D. distinguished Professor of Clinical Psychology, Palo Alto University and Founder, Institute for International Internet Interventions for Health (i4Health) was featured on NPR's Latino USA Program to speak about his efforts to make mental health resources accessible to the Latino community.

Dr. Stanley Sue, a member of PAU's China Advisory Council, will be visiting Beijing and Shanghai this September. {C}

He is involved with PAU's Global Advancement of Counseling Excellence in China, headed by Dr. Martha Chiu. His plans are to

(1) meet with students in the MA Counseling Program, as well as administrators involved in mental health programs in China
(2) support efforts to further use internet resources as training and intervention tools. 

The PAU Trauma Student Group (TSG), Child And Family Emphasis (CAFÉ) and Students for Ethical Culture Awareness (SECA) sponsored a viewing of the film Girl Rising in Palo Alto on May 22, 2014. From Academy Award-nominated director Richard E. Robbins, Girl Rising journeys around the globe to witness the strength of the human spirit and the power of education to change the world. Viewers got to know nine unforgettable girls living in the developing world: ordinary girls who confront tremendous challenges and overcome nearly impossible odds to pursue their dreams.
