In February, Dr. Alvin Thomas appeared as a guest on Can We Have A Conversation  as an expert. The online talk show episode, filmed in Berkley, CA, focuses on fatherhood in the black community, father-son relationships and the challenges faced in these dynamics.

  This February Palo Alto University (PAU) alumna, Madison Steele, represented the university in Sacramento for Day in the Capitol. The annual event brings students, faculty and staff members from colleges and universities across California, to the capitol for the opportunity to engage with their state government on important issues.    One of these important issues for our university are impending changes to the Cal Grant, part of which includes a 11.3% decrease in funding for students at private institutions.  Leading up to the Day in the Capitol,  and with Dr.
Two Palo Alto University doctoral students were awarded a research grant by the American Psychology-Law Society (APA Division 41), for research on psycholegal issues related to diversity.    Marissa Vasquez and Sierra Shumate, both students in the Ph.D Clinical Psychology program, submitted their project titled: A Spanish Translation of a New Malingering-Detection Measure of PTSD.
February 2017   Researchers from Palo Alto University (PAU) have been awarded a contract by Catholic Relief Services (CRS) to provide a scientific evaluation of trauma healing and peace education interventions under a grant from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).     The interventions are in the Central African Republic (CAR), a country that has experienced significant conflict since December 2012.

Palo Alto University faculty member, Dr. Margaret Lamar has been elected as the President Elect-Elect-Elect of the Western Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (WACES).

Voting for the election took place amongst WACES members in December and results were recently announced. Before this election, Dr. Lamar served as the Treasurer of the organization. 

Palo Alto University professor Dr. Ricardo Munoz  was recognized as a Fellow by the Council of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS)  this weekend at the annual meeting of AAAS in Boston, MA. Dr. Munoz was honored for his distinguished contributions towards the prevention of major depression and the development of internet interventions to improve mental health worldwide.    To learn more about Dr.
