This training program, A General Stakeholders Guide to Competency to Proceed in Michigan's Juvenile Courts is presented by Ivan Kruh, PhD and Christina Riggs Romaine, PhD.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) is pleased to announce additional learning opportunities for the juvenile competency stakeholder informational training. The learning events will provide an overview of the juvenile competency process in Michigan and discuss the potential outcomes outlined in the current statute. Court probation officers and managers, judges, referees, prosecutors, attorneys, advocates, behavioral health providers, MDHHS juvenile justice specialists and managers, and other MDHHS staff are encouraged to attend during the designated times. MDHHS has contracted with the highly qualified experts at National Youth Screening and Assessment Partners (NYSAP) to provide a comprehensive overview of risk factors, best practices, and court processes related to juvenile competency in the state of Michigan. Funding has been provided by the Juvenile Justice Subcommittee of the Mental Health Diversion Council.
