Heather Greenwald, Psy.D

Drawing on more than 30 years of progressive leadership and clinical experience in correctional systems, Dr. Greenwald is a demonstrated leader in corrections. She is an accomplished clinician and executive leader with Dr Heather Greenwald holds a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University, and a Masters in Counseling from Loyola Marymount as well as a BA in Psychology and Criminal Justice from Chapman University. Dr. Greenwald has broad base of knowledge in correctional mental health having trained in juvenile and adult corrections. She has worked in Federal and State prisons in Mental Health services and has been asked to consult with government agencies developing correctional mental health systems. She has developed methods to support, inspire, and encourage change and transformation on micro and macro levels from building individual client and personnel improvement as well as organizational change and transformation. Dr. Heather Greenwald is committed to intentional and purposeful conscious leadership. Her mission is to co-create a better place to live and work within correctional environments. As an organizational leader in a large bureaucratic system with hundreds of employees, she learned how to support the people and the system to strive toward betterment. Dr. Greenwald has served in the correctional mental health space in a variety of capacities. As a pre-doctoral intern in the Federal Bureau of Prisons she was trained by the FBI in basic and advanced hostage negotiation and by the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) in correctional mental health. After completion of her training in the BOP she worked at North Kern State Prison, a reception center, in California as a psychologist then was promoted to Supervisor in 2009 at Richard J. Donovan (RJD), a maximum security prison in San Diego. She was next appointed Chief Psychologist and Chief of Mental Health at RJD where she served with distinction for more than a decade. She is now a Chief Psychologist for Statewide Mental Health Services in the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation as the Chief of Consulting, Orientation, Mentorship Services fostering organizational development and personnel development for a large state prison system to support Chiefs throughout the state to fulfill their missions. Dr. Greenwald has also had a successful forensic private practice in the past and now has a consultation firm which provides organizational consulting for Mental Health system development and for corporate consultation and conscious leadership. In the educational space she has also enjoyed teaching as an adjunct professor at the University level.
