Biography
Jared Boot-Haury, PsyD, ABPP (they/them), is a board-certified clinical psychologist and Licensed Clinical Supervisor in the Sexual and Gender Identities Clinic at Palo Alto University. Dr. Boot-Haury specializes in LGBTQ+ mental health, sexuality, gender-affirming care, and psychological assessment. They are a World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) Global Education Institute Certified Mentor and an American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT) Certified Sex Therapist Supervisor with extensive experience providing affirming care to sexual and gender diverse communities across healthcare, academic, and community settings. They completed an LGBTQ+ Health Psychology postdoctoral residency at the San Francisco VA Health Care System and currently work as an ADHD/ASD Assessment Psychologist at Kaiser Permanente in San Francisco.
In addition to supervising trainees in the Sexual and Gender Identities Clinic, Dr. Boot-Haury serves as a Faculty Internship Advisor at Palo Alto University, supporting doctoral students through the APPIC internship application process. They also previously served as the Goldblum-Carr LGBTQ+ Psychology Research Fellow at Palo Alto University, where they mentored trainees and collaborated on applied LGBTQ+ research and dissemination efforts. Their supervisory approach emphasizes evidence-based practice, cultural humility, reflective practice, and supporting trainees in developing both clinical competence and professional identity.
Dr. Boot-Haury’s scholarship and advocacy focus on improving mental health care experiences for LGBTQ+ communities, with particular emphasis on minority stress, asexuality, transgender and gender diverse health, and culturally responsive care. They developed the Asexual Stigma Inventory and have authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and professional presentations focused on LGBTQ+ affirmative care and health equity. They also serve as Co-Chair of the Public Policy Committee and Committee on Consensual Non-Monogamy for APA Division 44 (Society for the Psychology of Sexual Orientation and Gender Diversity). Their work has been recognized through multiple national awards for scholarship, leadership, and social justice advocacy.
