Cocoa, Cookies, and Connection: People Operations Brings Warmth to PAU
As Palo Alto University celebrates its 50th Anniversary, moments of connection continue to reflect the people-centered values that have defined PAU for five decades. That spirit was on full display as the university welcomed December with warmth and community at the Cocoa & Cookies Meet and Greet, hosted by the People Operations team.
Held on Thursday, December 4 at Wisniewski Hall on the Allen Calvin Campus, the midday gathering brought together staff from across the university for an hour of treats, conversation, and community-building during a busy time of year.
A highlight of the event was hearing from Rein Johnson, PAU’s new Director of People Operations. Rein shared warm, thoughtful remarks about joining the PAU community, her passion for people-centered leadership, and her vision for enhancing the employee experience. Her enthusiasm, openness, and collaborative spirit set an inspiring tone for the afternoon.
Danielle Li-Song, Human Resource Coordinator, also spoke during the gathering, welcoming colleagues and sharing her excitement for the continued evolution of People Operations. Danielle engaged with attendees throughout the hour, reinforcing the team’s dedication to accessibility, partnership, and supporting PAU employees with care and responsiveness.
During the event, President Farouk Dey shared words of encouragement and appreciation for the direction People Operations is heading. He underscored the university’s commitment to building a strong, connected, and supportive workplace culture.
The event showcased the collective energy and enthusiasm of the People Operations team, whose work continues to shape a positive and people-focused employee experience at PAU. Their presence, interactions, and shared vision contributed to a warm, uplifting atmosphere that resonated with colleagues across departments.
As employees enjoyed cocoa refills, sampled cookies, and exchanged early holiday greetings, the event highlighted the power of connection and the meaningful role People Operations plays in fostering community at PAU. The Cocoa & Cookies Meet and Greet served not only as a seasonal celebration but as a moment that brought renewed momentum and excitement to the university’s ongoing commitment to its employees.
People Operations extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined and looks forward to more opportunities for connection in the year ahead.
