F-1 Employment, Practica & Internship

Optional Practical Training (OPT) is a work authorization for F-1 international students that allows up to 12 months of employment in the U.S. in a field related to their studies, either before or after graduation. The process requires a recommendation from PAU Student Services and final approval from USCIS, and students must submit Form I-765 along with supporting documents within specific application timelines.

Curricular Practical Training (CPT) is employment authorization for F-1 students participating in internships or practicums that are a required part of their academic program. Authorization is granted by PAU’s International Student Services prior to starting work and requires submission of an employer offer letter and a completed CPT application approved by the academic program.
